Song of the Weak #41, For Life

Shoot, that 'bout says it!

Pressure, no such thing. Sure, I sucked Stan into this thing. Sure, I got the St. Pete Times coming to Croom Tomorrow to take a few shots and run a little piece. Sure I've already soaked 4 grand into this, with more on the way. Sure, I'm writing the next ultra best seller on completing the Slam (I plan to sell two books in Florida for you guys to pass around!) Realistically, I may not make it, most don't, but darm it, I'm giving it a try, no doubt about that. I may not make it, but I will not quit, I will Run for Life, even if it kills me.

But, that aint pressure. You know why?

I'm just a passenger on this train, the only thing that really matters is that my daughter loves me! And she'll be there with me at Western States, and I will make her proud of her old man.

That's enough for me (ah, but geez, I do want that cool Grand Slam Eagle, and the Tattoo, that comes with it doesn't it?)

I doubt that Melissa Etheridge RUNS at all. But YOU, my dear friend, have something to run for...a kick-@$$ tatoo!

Sorry I'll miss your paparazzi tomorrow. Smile big...you're about to hit a Grand Slam!

In order to continue with the integrity level of my first book I have alreadt pre-written all of my race reports from The Slam and sent them to the publisher. Sorry to beat you to it...

Funny stuff, Chase... er, Dean. Also, I'm going to get a tattoo. Either a sloth or, perhaps, for my chin a piece of spinach. I'm looking forward to people pointing and saying, "you got a little food there", so I can respond, "Nah, that's just my tattoo".

Face tattos are cool. I mean, who could possibly argue that Mike Tyson isn't better looking with his?

Star, you know the pictures won't be as perdy without you there (BTW, have your sister gimme a call will ya?)

Dean-o, Sorry bud, publisher said you're going to have to actually run these races to write about them, and I didn't see your name on WS or Vermont. Kindly just substitute AndyMan for every Karno, Dean, or exalted one and send it back. I'll split it with you, shoot, we may sell 4 books in Florida!

SuperD, Born to Litigate man! Come on how cool would that be?

Roger, Roger, that really is my face, well, I did do the nose...

Sorry to disappoint, but that must've been another anonymous, wasn't me! (I only wish it was, and hey, I LIKE Dean!) ...

And just think what you have to look forward to, Aman ... you'll write a book, do the talk shows, and pretty soon, all other runners will hate you.

On another note, y'all note that m'man Anton Krupicka is listed as "one to watch" in the WS program ... 24-yr-old from Colorado Springs, has the chops to not only win this thing but break the course record, he's that good, and they weren't even going to let him run it, he had to earn his way in with a big win at the AR50 this spring ...

And I Like Dean too!
I was a little disappointed that they didn't have 2005 winner and Jon Docs and AndyMan camping partner Annette Bednosky as one to watch. I really dig that lady and want her to do well (same for Michelle, I love ya Mischa, you know that!)

Dean's full of S^!t.

Anton however, seems to be the real deal. He even answers questions posed to him on his blog! There's no reason to think he won't win. After all, no one has EVER beaten him in a trail race (that I can think of), he's coming off of a FAST (5:42?) 50 miler at American River, and if you read his blog, you'll know his training is freakishly strong.

He may be the Anti-Dean...

Hey, hey, Chase and I like Dean, let's try to stay positive. Now as for Anton, no I don't see anybody beating him, but it's 100 miles, that's a long way, anything can happen, a twist, a fall, a vomit or 9.

We know that you aren't going to QUIT! You will be wearing a bracelet that your daughter made for you...the FIRST "Don't Quit" bracelet! BTW...Lan and I need more bracelets before the Ali-girl gets too busy with life. Is she still selling them?

Pep talk...you know that your daughter is proud of you and will always be there for you. That's the kind of woman that she is!

I'll BUY a copy of your book and even have you autograph it. Not being pessimistic, but if it doesn't sell, maybe you can sell it and a bracelet as a package deal?

Worse case...Marathon and Beyond will pay you $25 (or is it $50?)for your story. You know that Jan is a sucker for your articles.

Arlene,
Ali and I just re-stocked on beads, we'll have those braclets for you and Lan pronto!

Hey, I don't know if the book will sell, but I know it will be good, no false modesty here! And I bet we'll be able to scronge a copy for you (don't tell anyone!)
